We’ve all had days at work where the clock seems to be moving in slow motion and every little thing seems to be frustrating. Often, these types of days are the result of a single thing that happened before you could even finish your coffee! Having a great morning is an essential part of having a productive day, so we’ve come up with some a list of morning tips for a productive day at work.  

Plan Ahead:  

  • The first part of having a great morning starts before you even go to sleep the night before. Before turning in for the night, make a list of the tasks you need to complete the next day. This will help you stay organized and focused when you come to work the next morning. Knowing what you need to do the following day will also help you sleep better and feel less stressed throughout the morning and beyond. Take Care of Yourself:  

  • Eating a healthy breakfast is another great way to start your day off right. A balanced breakfast with protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates can give you the energy you need to tackle your tasks with focus and clarity. Meal prepping the night before can help make eating a healthy breakfast quick and stress free. Making overnight oats or frozen breakfast burritos is one of the easiest ways to prepare a nutritious breakfast that will allow you to start your workday right. One of our personal favorite tips for having a productive day is drinking a cup of coffee or tea with breakfast. A cup of coffee or two can improve your wellbeing and boost your creativity!  
  • In addition to a healthy breakfast, getting in some exercise in the morning can energize your body and mind for the day ahead. You don’t have to do a full workout; a quick 10–15-minute walk, jog, or bike ride around the block can do wonders to improve your mood, reduce stress, and improve your focus. These exercises release dopamine, the chemical responsible for pleasure, making them one of the best things you can do in the morning to improve your workday.  

Show Up For Work Early:  

  • Arriving early at work can also help you start your day off on a positive note. You can use the extra time to review your schedule, organize your workspace, or catch up on emails. Plus, arriving early can help you avoid traffic and other potential stressors that can set a negative tone for the rest of your day. 

State Your Intentions:  

  • Finally, setting intentions for your workday can help you stay focused and motivated. Take a few minutes at the beginning of your workday to visualize what you want to accomplish and set intentions for the day. This can help you prioritize your tasks and stay on track throughout the day. Writing these intentions down can help you stay on track and get your brain working before the day starts. This can be done in the same planner that you wrote your list down on the previous day!
