As part of our personal development series, we hosted our first resume hack-a-thon on February 13, 2024. Melerick Mitchell, the Founder and Talent Development Architect for Drive Influence, facilitated an engaging and collaborative session with the attendees.
Melerick’s session wasn’t the typical resume writing session where you are given the normal four or five tips for improving your resume. He spent time helping the attendees define the type of Impact they desired to make with their careers and how they wanted to be Known in their industry. One of the critical things that Melerick stressed in his session was, “You own your career.” Different people and circumstances may influence your career trajectory, but at the end of the day, you are responsible for managing your career.
From the session, attendees left with the following action items:
- Identify and define the Impact you want to make in your industry, community, world, etc.
- Define how you want to be Known and what it looks like for you to be Known that way.
- Craft your resume and LinkedIn profile to align with how you want to be Known and the Impact you are striving to make.
